With our defense from the World Cup 2006 squad depleted due to retirement, blacklists, age etc., T&T football fans are understandably asking the question "Where are our defenders?". One player who is hoping to fill this void, is former U-17 member, Julius James. Julius has been a revelation at the University of Connecticut, where he is completing his final year of studies. In recognition of his ability, he was invited to the 2008 MLS Combine where he would get a chance to display his skills to MLS coaches and various scouts, with the hope of landing a professional contract. To get a little insight into Julius, Warrior Nation Media correspondent Collin "Mr Mc" McFarlane made his way to Lockhart Stadium, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, January 12th to chat with him. |

Clive Pantin, CEO of FEEL, greets Brian "Patriot" Springer
Though things were looking bleak for a while, our first annual food drive was a successful one. In true Trini style, most of the contributors waited until the last minute to drop off their items. The benefactor of this drive was FEEL (Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life). In addition to food, they were also presented with a cheque in the amount of $2,000 TTD. |

On Saturday morning, December 22nd, the Warrior Nation paid a visit to one of Trinidad & Tobago's sporting heroes, Rodney Wilkes, at his home in San Fernando. The 82-year old, former national weightlifter, and Hall of Famer was the recipient of a Christmas food hamper that was filled with donations from Warrior Nation members and employees of the Ministry of Works, Arima office. The Mighty Midget as he is affectionately known, appreciated our gesture of goodwill, and wished our club well in our endeavours. For those of you who may not have heard of Mr. Wilkes or do not know of his achievements, we have included the bio that appears with his Hall of Fame entry. Just to give you an idea of his status, he is regarded as one of the top Olympic weightlifters of the 20th century. |

Goalkeeper Neil Shaka Hislop, who retired from football back in September, was presented with an award by the Warrior Nation for his service to Trinidad & Tobago football. It was one of many awards that he received at the first annual Shaka Hislop Tribute Cup that was held on November 30th and December 2nd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. The crowd turnout was poor, but nevertheless, a good time was had by all and we wish Shaka all the success in his new role as President of FPATT. Play yuhself big man! |
